In September 2016, Abbey Conference & Events were officially approved as members of the International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO).

Membership of IAPCO truly is a badge of honour in our industry and it is a significant achievement for all the team. We are very much looking forward to connecting with the wider IAPCO community over the coming years and further enhancing our international profile.

Team Ireland created history at the World Shore Angling Championships in Wexford recently by claiming gold in both the Men’s and Ladies Championships. The feat is all the more remarkable given the fact that the Ladies were competing in the championships for the very first time!

Marije and the team in Abbey Events were proud to partner with the Irish Federation of Sea Anglers and Event Ireland in staging this historic championships

It was a busy week for our team in the iconic surroundings of the Aviva Stadium as Abbey were the official PCO for both the 18th International Pyscho Oncology Society Congress and the and the European Oncology Nursing Society Congress which immediately proceeded it. The congresses brought in excess of 1000 delegates to Dublin and we were honoured to partner with the Irish Cancer Society in operating both events.

In excess of 900 delegates descended on Dublin for the 26th European Early Childhood Education & Research Association Conference which took place in The Helix, DCU from 31st August – 3rd September. Abbey were delighted to work with Early Childhood Ireland on this conference which returned to Dublin after previously being hosted here in 2005.

For the second time in recent years, Abbey were awarded Best PCO at the prestigious Event Industry Awards, held in the Double Tree Hotel on July 15th. It’s a wonderful achievement for the company and the conference team who were represented on the night by John, Anja, Marije, Greg, Lisa and Louisa.

August 24, 2016

Working with conference ambassador Peter Mullowney from the Department of Agriculture, Abbey were part of the team successful in securing the 15th International Colloquium for Paratuberculosis for Dublin in 2020.

Marije Kraan from Abbey travelled to Nantes with Peter for this year’s conference to present the bid. Ireland won the bid over two very strong bids from Scotland and India.

The event will bring over 300 delegates to Dublin and will take place in Dublin Castle in June 2020.

The European Pig Producers Congress took place from 25-27 May in Crowne Plaza Northwood and was attended by over 300 delegates from all over Europe. The delegates had a wonderful time in Ireland and will bring back many happy memories with them from a fun 3 days in Dublin. We were honoured to work with Colin Marry and his committee on this wonderful congress.

Anja and Danielle attended ESPO 2016 in Lisbon to promote the 2018 Stockholm Conference. As ESPO’s official secretariat, we managed the voting process for the 2020 conference which was awarded to the French city Marseille. There was stiff competition for this event and despite a strong bid from Liverpool, Marseille came out on top. The team are very much looking forward to working on the event.

Abbey were the PCO appointment to organise the 4th Annual AIPCO Business Tourism Conference in Lyrath Estate Kilkenny on April 14 & 15. The theme of the conference from the outset was ’10 Ways to Nail Your Sale’ and the committee will come up with these key 10 points after the conference to ensure that delegates have a practical takeway from their time at the conference.
